rsync 3.2.3 sigue fallando en el Mac mini M1

Intento utilizar rsync en un Mac mini M1 para hacer una copia de seguridad desde un disco duro externo (formateado como APFS) a un NAS (compartido como smb/cifs). He probado varios comandos rsync pero este fue el más reciente

rsync -avv --delete --info=progress2 /Volumes/FranBackup_6TB/FranArchives/Frans_Files /Volumes/FranArchives/

Empieza a funcionar bien pero después de un rato, quizás una hora o así, se bloquea completamente el sistema y mi Mac se reinicia. He probado el cp y parece que no se bloquea. A continuación se muestra el mensaje de error recibido después de reiniciar.

editar No mencioné que había instalado la versión 3.2.3 de rsync a través de brew.

Hay muchas variables aquí. No estoy seguro de si está relacionado con rsync, o con Big Sur, o con el chip M1 o con el recurso compartido smb/cifs, etc. ¿Alguna idea? Parece bastante simple lo que estoy tratando de hacer. Sólo una copia de seguridad de mi disco externo a mi NAS.
